In one handy volume Counties USA provides statistical, descriptive, and contact information for the more than 3,100 counties and county equivalents in the United States. This edition provides updated contact information, population figures, and other data gathered from a variety of sources since the last edition was published in 2003.

This edition also features a guest foreword and other detailed information about counties provided by the Executive Director of the National Association of Counties, as well as several new categories of data, including:

This edition offers expanded coverage of more than 2,400 county web sites, representing every county that has a web site, and a listing by county of cities with populations of 10,000+.

Other information included for each county includes a brief description of its location, the date it was organized or incorporated, name origin, and area in square miles with separate figures for land and water areas.

Convenient State-by-State Arrangement

The county listings are conveniently organized by state and listed alphabetically within each state. State-level data includes the same statistical data that is given for the counties, contact information for the state association of counties, and an enhanced state map that pinpoints county seats.

Comprehensive Index

A County Index provides an alphabetical list of every U.S. county. Index citations include the state in which the county is located, the telephone number for the county, and a reference to the page on which that county's listing appears in the main body of the book.
